Stepping on Cracks

The other day I was walking down the street and walking in front of me was a mother ans her two children. Each child was holding on to their mother's sweeter but I noticed one seemed to be walking weird. When I was about to go around them I realized that she was trying to not walk on the cracks! I used to make sure I sisn't step on the cracks so can understand it but it seems so strange to be older and see a kid do the same thing now. Makes me feel kind of nostalgic.

My Quotes

As some readers may know I envision myself as a philosopher in training. Here are a few of my own words for myself and others to chew on:
”望みを果たしは難しい”、
"There is always a solution to a problem, the problem is finding it."

Tonight's Debate

Wow! This debate has been more interesting than I thought it would be. I have to admit it's McCain who's been the most interesting. He has said quite a few strange things and just wrong facts. I wonder where he gets his info. I first noticed when he said the U.S. is still the biggest importer and exporter. Of course McCain has been saying a lot weird things lately, connecting things that are not really connected. Such as trying to cancel the debate for the bill. It was also funny how he kept saying he wasn't miss congeniality;seems he really likes that phrase for some reason.

Another interesting part I noticed was it seems Mcain purposely acted like he did not understand quite a few things Obama said which surprised me. I wonder if that was really a good idea because it reminded me of when I heard others made comments about Mcain being senile.

Heaven & Earth Campus Concert

Found an interesting show a few weeks ago,Heaven & Earth Campus Concert.
It comes on before JATV News so I happened to catch the ending about 4 weeks ago and became interested. The show is in Chinese so I barely understand a word but for some reason I have found it really enjoyable.

Anyway it comes on at Saturday(today) at 7 on LA18

Political Funnies

We sure have had a lot of political funnies lately. Well I guess just two. First I have Palin who doesn't make a lick of sense to me. In her celebrated speeches she list things she wants to do that Obama already mentioned or already did. Even in her first VP nominee speech she attacked Obama for stupid stuff like 'having several speeches about the war and not mentioning the word victory one.' Really! Who cares if someone mentions victory in a speech if they don't achieve. Am I the only one who remembers our current president with his mission accomplished signs yet still sees our forces in Iraq and Afghanistan? From everything I heard her say I don't see what people are celebrating her for; it seems only people who already wanted to vote for McCain (or against Obama)would find something to vote for in her.
Then we had our president and his 2 second address.

This is a post I will probably come back and edit later but wanted to start. Recently I have started to try to translate a song by Jackson Vibe"朝焼け旅路". I first heard it on 'At Home Dad' a Japanese show.

ありったけの力で /ありったけのちからで/with all my strength
Run to my heart morning's glow road

Online Radio Shows

I used to love radio shows. I would listen to the Adventures in Odyssey radio shows and later recordings of old radio shows like the Jack Benny Program,Gunsmoke,Bostan Blackie,The Twilight Zone, orSuspense. Actually I guess I still listen to old-time radio shows when I can find them at the places like the library.

However it's been a while since I listened to any. I had read a part of Romance of three Three Kingdoms earlier the other day and thinking about it my mind switched to thinking about Water Margin, since I've never read Water Margin/Outlaws of the Marsh and only read about parts of the story and characters. I did a search for the Water Margin story and the game Suikoden and found out about Konami Station (http://573st.i-revo.jp/) They apparently have a GenoSuikoden 「幻想水滸伝」 radio drama based on the RPG game.

By the way if anyone hears of a good translation of the Water Margin book please tell me about it.

8/28

Last night is a day that will go down in my and written history for sure. Senator Obama's speech on the anniversary of Dr.King's. Personally I support the Obama campaign and it's not for any of those cliche reasons which I've heard some people seem to insist is the reason for his success like that he is black or Democrat.

It is great to see a man of character succeed. Personally as a fellow black man it is also nice to see a black man succeed but the reason I support Obama is I like his plans on the issues. I also see how he is willing to listen to others to choose the right path yet has the backbone to stand up for what he believes.
If you just happened upon my page and don't know about Barack's view on the issues facing America today I suggest checking out his website: www.barackobama.com/issues

How To's sites

I've only recently started to go go sites with how to do videos like wonderhowto.com and howcast.com . At first I was pretty wary. What do these people who have time to post a video online really know about saving gas mileage or crashing an art gallery? Now I'm surprised about how much stuff they said make sense and how many are just plain funny. In a few short minutes I have found tips on how to draw Iron-man,propose to a girlfriend, network, tell a joke, and dissect a human ear!
So long Books!

I'm being framed!

I went onto Yelp the other day and say they now have graphs of your reviews. However there must be a mistake. My pie chart shows 45% are for restaurants and 23% are for food. Yeah, I think about food most of the time but I just like food as much as the next guy but surely this can't be true.

Mixi music hurt

I'm going to be honest I'm truly hurt and disappointed. I logged onto mixi(ミクシイ) the other day and found out they have a new radio like thing. Unluckily I had to get off the computer and then was too busy to sign back on. So yesterday I finally signed back on to find out you can only use the radio feature if you are in Japan!

I understand why with legal channels it would just be for Japan. It makes perfect sense but I still love music.

I call this poem "Mixi music hurt":
音楽を聴けない
心痛い

ADS

Do advertisements really work? I wonder. I think most advertisements only drive me away from them. A commercial comes on tv-I want to change the channel. Some ad pops up on the computer screen-I want to close it to make sure my program doesn't run slow. Junk mail-only gets in the way until I eventually throw it away. The only advertisements that may work are those that blend in with the background. With no sounds, no lights, nothing that could bother anyone. Yes, that also means that they will also be easier to ignore but if businesses want customers like me I guess it's a chance they have to take.

I guess In theory build-boards could work but there are generally too many and they are too large. Which just means my eyes try to look past them. The best advertising I've seen is Nascar. There are so many sponsor names attached to cars, clothes and stuff that it looks like some type of decoration. After that it's just a question of good angling by the driver when they are out of the car and tv cameras on the cars.I wonder what the next great marketing tactic will be

Widower

The word widower seems strange. I have to check the word's history and see who or what group decided to use that form. When compared to widow it seems "widower" should refer to the person who died.
Was there was really no other way to do a male version of widow? How about widaw or ido?

TV programs have an interesting place in our everyday lives. I read more books than I watch television but things on television are easier to talk to people about.
With books you can have people get totally different ideas from the same book. You also have people's different reading speeds.

Some tv shows you didn't realize stuck with you come to mind. The other day I was thinking of a show I liked,The Secret World of Alex Mack which went off the air about 10 years ago.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I recently noticed that I prefer to write stories and poems on paper instead of the computer. I used to like to work on the computer starting from the time I was really young and had just learned how to type on it. I wonder if it shows a change in my writing style or is it just that the computer has so many distractions for me?

Grand Theft Auto 4

I find it hilarious that a video game is coming out that has a character that depends on his cell phone. I'm not sure what is so funny about that to me. I guess it is the idea of someone playing on an electronic device watching their character using an electronic device.

It shows how things have changed in people's daily lives. From what I have heard the idea is actually ingenuous. The cellphone and it's features which are suppose to be similar to a mp3 player and blackberry with music, names, and dates. Actually I have realized that despite their controversies GTA games have already brought some new impressive elements to games several times in the past

Sunday, March 2, 2008

This weekend I started (and finished) a book,Magic Kingdom for Sale-Sold by Terry Brooks. A course it caused me to wonder:Would I want to buy a Magic Kingdom?

First you have the question. The question you will have even when buying a nonmagical kingdom. Who would sale a kingdom and why? The very act of trying to buy a country raises moral and practical issues. After that you will also have to deal with personal issues seeing that I doubt more subjects of a country will be happy about their home being sold.

Then there is the whole magic element. With that we have dragons which from some sources of authors' imagination are either crazed, evil flying giants of incredible power or from others highly intelligent creatures that are still frankly a lot stronger than me. Between other magical creatures and the possibility that the land's magic might hold some rules you the newcomer would obviously not know your life expectancy would definitely drop by going to that country.

On the other side of the argument it sure would be fun.

Oh by the way I would definitely recommend the Land-Over series to any reader who likes fantasy or witty, funny books

Akira

I heard that an Akira movie would be out fairly soon. At first I thought
"cool, lucky me. I will be able to watch the Iron Man movie and the Akira movie soon. Manga/Comicbook lovers Assemble!" (wrong comic-book but I'm a fan of the Avengers too)
Then I found out that the movie is not made in Japan with the leads including American actors. I have nothing against the company or the actors but I have to wonder how much to story will follow the original with Americans making it. Will the setting for the movie even take place in Japan? It could be great but I was really hoping for something mirroring the original. I'll just have to wait to see.

Koda Kumi

Wow check out Koda's website . I heard that Avex wasn't too happy with her comment on Thursday (Jan. 31). (Well I guess it was more of fans weren't happy and they are trying to make up for it.) But Wow! when I heard that they weren't going to promote her last album I was surprised and I sure didn't think that for one of their best selling artist that even her site would be stripped down to the minimum. I understand but I'm starting to feel a bit sorry for her. I was never a big fan but did like a few of her songs, now I almost wish I bought more of her CDs. (almost because they would still ccost money)

Pictures,

I was just thinking. I have been around a lot of people taking pictures lately and I have been in a lot of photos growing up. When pictures were first made some people said and thought that pictures might steal souls. That has made me wonder ,with the amount of pictures I've had taken of me and if they did steal souls which photo would have it? Would my soul be in an early picture of me as a baby or a more recent picture after I developed my personality. Do all the photos have a part of my soul in them? And most importantly if part of my soul is in a picture can I ever regain it?

Dictators

I watched "The President's Last Bang",a movie about the assassination of Park Chung-hee a few days ago. It made me think about how there have been many dictators in history. Most are viewed harshly and like criminals now but like all people most were not all bad. Some seemed to help develop their countries making life better in some ways even as they dealt harsh treatment on their own people. How is it that the same actions were from the same people. Would they still have helped make the economical and technology changes if they had not been the dictators they were?
