Woman in the Glass Box

I was talking to a friend the other day and mentioned that they reminded me of a poem or story I had read. When I tried to look for it I found out there are several movies and art pieces with a similar name but could not find the poem I thought I read. So maybe it was a work I had either started or thought of and never did. Anyway here is the poem I created yesterday in honor of the poem/story that never was and the one who inspired it:

"Lady Behind the Glass"
'Do not touch!' The sign is as easily ignored as the fingers that smudge the surface-
of the glass box.
Eyes focus on every move, ignoring all but-
what lies in, the behind the glass.
Men feel a sick excitement while they watch her, unnoticed, go through her routine, their gazes unnoticed.
only to have the pace of heartbeats quicken when she meets his eyes and he draws out her smile-
She,the lady in the glass box.
Finally as lust fills his body and his head is lost in the sparkles of her eyes he smashes the box-
Freeing the one in the glass prison
Soon they are in each others arms while nary he notice his own soul sucked away, Only his body is left in-
the shattered cage in which "love" slept.

Wickhead

I have had a severe Wickhead fix lately. Wickhead is a band that is out from South Africa and moved to America about a years or two ago. (I think, they had just come out when I saw them play but I don't remember when that was exactly) I would highly suggest their "If it hurts it's healing album" I have been playing it nonstop for about a week.

Reminds me of S.N.L.

The controversy over the family who supposedly made a false report that their child had been in a weather balloon reminds me of an old Saturday Night Live skit.
A favorite of mine it, featuring Eddie Murphy, had a gunman shot and kill the
Buckwheat from the show Our Gang / The Little Rascals. The news reporter made a solid point that the reason for shootings such as these were that the gunman was looking for the media's attention and that any additional coverage would only fulfill the shooter's goals and further the likelihood for other gunman seeking attention to follow in his footsteps. The news covered this statement with attention showered on the gunman and his past for several days.
I did not know about the weather balloon until news networks continually spoke about the Heene family, questioning how the boy got on and if it was a hoax or not. While I understand the police pressing charges if they need to I do not see a need for news stations to have hourly updates, start to research the family's possible criminal behaviors which go back to before I was born, or speculating on the family life of the couple.
If the family did stage the event for media attention then I guess they are getting exactly what they wished for if the news organizations are any judge. Meanwhile, there are many stories out in the world and our neighborhoods from typhoon ravaged countries to inspirational local people who fight against the odds that deserve the time and attention the mass media are not providing to them. Why waste time with the same story over and over? Is not the media coverage to the point of only adding fuel to a fire instead of warning people about the flames?

National Novel Writing Month

I received my e-mail reminder from NaNoWriMo. That's right in about a month's time I should be mostly through with a novel. Interestingly I found out my old account still works too so I do not have to set up a new one. So in order to keep my self encouraged I am telling you all. Here is my account page.
